Abu Hurairah (Radiyallaahu `anhu) reported Allah’s Apostle (Sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said:
“The Hour (last day) will not be established until (religious) knowledge will be taken away, earthquakes will be very frequent, time will pass quickly, afflictions will appear, murders will increase and money will overflow amongst you.”

Narrated ibn ‘Umar (Radiyallahu `anhu) said, Allah’s Messenger (Sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said,
“For every action there is a period of enthusiasm/activity, and for every period of enthusiasm/activity there is a period of rest/inactivity. So he whose period of rest/inactivity is in accordance with my Sunnah then he is rightly guided, but he whose period of rest accords with other than this, then he is destroyed.”

The Prophet (Sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Whoever treads on a path in search of Islamic knowledge, Allah will ease the way to Paradise for him. The angels will lower their wings, pleased with this seeker of knowledge, and everyone in the heavens and on earth will ask forgiveness for the knowledgeable person, even the fish in the deepest of waters will ask for his forgiveness.”

Narrated by Abu Huraira (Radiyallahu `anhu), the Prophet (Sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said,
“(Religious) knowledge will be taken away (by the death of religious scholars) ignorance (in religion) and afflictions will appear; and Harj will increase.” It was asked, “What is Harj, O Allah’s Apostle?” He replied by beckoning with his hand indicating “killing.”
